Dr. Irene Peregrin brings a unique international perspective to reproductive medicine, with extensive training and experience in both the United States and Spain. Originally from Spain, she earned her medical degree from the University of Granada and completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Virgen del Rocío University Hospital in Seville. After relocating to the United States, she completed additional OB/GYN residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and REI fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Peregrin has special interests in oncofertility and fertility preservation, premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), reproductive surgery, and advanced reproductive ultrasound. Reproductive imaging is a particular passion, and she has extensive experience with advanced pelvic and 3D ultrasound, endometriosis and adenomyosis imaging, uterine and endometrial pathology, early pregnancy assessment, and ultrasound-guided fertility procedures. She has taught reproductive ultrasound to physicians and trainees in both the United States and Europe.
Research and innovation have been an important part of Dr. Peregrin’s career. She has extensive experience in clinical and translational research, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, and has presented her work at national and international scientific meetings. Her work has received multiple honors, including the ASRM 2026 Health Disparities Special Interest Group Prize Paper and the ASRM/Society of Reproductive Surgeons Best Research in Residency Award. More recently, her research has expanded into environmental reproductive toxicology, exploring how environmental exposures may influence reproductive health and fertility.
She is also passionate about integrative fertility care, incorporating evidence-based approaches to nutrition, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle practices that may support reproductive health alongside conventional fertility treatments. She especially values the personal connections she develops with her patients and takes the time to get to know them beyond their diagnosis, understanding who they are, what matters to them, and how she can best support them throughout their fertility journey. Her goal is to provide highly individualized care that combines compassion and a whole-person approach with reproductive science and evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Peregrin is actively involved with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), where she serves as Vice Chair of the Imaging in Reproductive Medicine Special Interest Group and is a founding member of the Hispanics in REI Special Interest Group. Fluent in English and Spanish, she particularly enjoys caring for international patients and helping them navigate fertility treatment across borders and healthcare systems, wherever in the world their fertility journey may begin.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, traveling, spending time with her family and her Labrador retriever, Lucky, and reading whenever she gets the chance.
